I love color and vintage designs. Pioneer Woman Dishes are becoming a favorite too. What a happy surprise to see, that when working with several colors  it created a shabby look.

Here are some coordinating diamond shells lace crochet patterns. A mug rug, Extended Lace Placemat, and the Solo Cup Cozy.

The first two placemats I made have a side extension on the right. It creates the perfect place to weave a piece of floral fabric ribbon. This stitch is so fun and creates beautiful texture. Check out my good friends “How To Tutorial” on the Diamond Shells Stitch.

The crochet stitch used on the placemats can be found on crochetkim.com.

It is called Diamond Shells Lace. There were a few changes made to the pattern to accommodate the stiffness of the Cotton yarn. Worsted weight acrylic can be used for the placemats too. This same stitch was used to create the Solo Cup Cozy.

Diamond Shells Lace Placemat (Extension not included)

Yarn used: Peaches and Cream Cotton & Lilly’s Sugar and Cream Cotton; approx. 200 yds. I tried to coordinate with the Pioneer Woman dishes and the colors are: P&C = Mint & Rose S&C = White; Yellow; and Potpourri Prints

Optional Ribbon Embellishments: 12.5” strip of 1.5” wide Floral Fabric Ribbon, or any ribbon that fits the theme you want to present with your place mats. Example, 4th of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Back to School. Just a few ideas for ya.

After measuring and cutting the ribbon to length, fold the ends over a ¼” twice. Finger press then glue or sew them down. Weave them through the placemat edge and secure them if you choose, or leave them loose so they can be easily removed when the placemats need washed.
