How To Crochet A 3D Strawberry Scrubby – Free Pattern

Now it’s time to  show you how to crochet a 3D strawberry scrubby. Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle Yarn is perfect for this project. Hobby Lobby also has a Scrubby yarn too. This Strawberry Scrubby matches the 3D Strawberry Dishcloth. The free crochet pattern for the Strawberry Scrubby is found below or you can purchase the ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

A Crochet Strawberry Scrubby is being held in the palm of a hand, so show the size proportion.

I think a handmade Strawberry dish scrubby is so fun to have in the kitchen.

The yarn is so unique. It is easy to wash and clean. Some folks put their Scrubbies in the dishwasher. Others just throw them in the washing machine. It’s up to you, but either way it’s easy to clean!

Red Heart Scrubby Yarn is easy to work with!

I love using this yarn. I don’t weave the yarn all through my fingers like some do, I hold it with two fingers only, and the texture doesn’t bother me much at all. I hope you will give this scrubby a try.

Yarn:

Worsted weight  (4) I used Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle Yarn in Red & Green.

I think this would be cute using pink scrubby yarn for the strawberry and lime green yarn for the leaf cap. If you create one in these colors, please send me a photo. I would love to see it.

Yarn amounts
MC = Main Color 50-60 yds
CC = Contrasting Color  (Leaf Color) 20-30 yds

Hook:

H–8/5.0mm (You will also need a yarn needle to finish this project)

I have quite a few Scrubbies and Dishcloth Crochet patterns that are free on this blog. The Lemon Scrubby and Dishcloth are a favorite of so many folks. Next is the 3D Pumpkin Dishcloth and Scrubby.

Round 20: Leaf Cap Round:

This next little bit can be difficult. I have an optional leaf that you may find easier. It will be directly below. Leaf = leaf – ch4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in last 2ch’s

Immediately create your 1st leaf; slp st in the joining st; *leaf, slp st in the nxt st, leaf, slp st in the same st;* 7x; join w/slp st to the base of the beg leaf. st, end off leaving a very long tail. (15  leaves)

Optional Leaf Cap Round 20:

This next little bit is an easier option to the Leaf that is above.  Optional Leaf = opt.leaf – ch5, slp st in 2nd ch from hook, ch3

Immediately create your 1st opt. leaf; slp st in the joining st; *opt. leaf, slp st in the nxt st, opt. leaf, slp st in the same st;* 8x; join w/slp st to the base of the beg opt. leaf. st, end off leaving a very long tail. (17  opt. leaves)

Finishing the Strawberry and making the hanging loop.

  • Using a yarn needle thread the long, yarn tail through the eye, and sew the opening that is at the top of the strawberry closed.
  • Sew it back and forth.
  • I like to bunch it together at the top while I am sewing it closed.
  • Work the yarn tail back to the middle of the Strawberry cap, after you have sewn it closed.
  • Insert your hook into a loop in the center of the strawberry cap.
  • Now draw up a loop.
  • Use the loop & chain 20. Slp st at the base of the chain 20 and join with a slp st.

End off and weave in all ends.
