Embellishments for the Candy Corn Hat

Sew plastic buttons on with needle and thread, then thread 7” piece of yarn or ribbon into yarn needle. The easiest way to sew on that button is to start by going down at the three oclock position, leaving a tail, come back up at 12 oclock, back down at 6 oclock, and back up at 9 o’clock, securely tie yarn into a knot. Trim and separate
strands if using yarn.

Adding a large plastic button using yarn is fun. Then fray the yarn for an even cuter detail. Layer buttons and use scotch tape to hold them in place while you sew them on. Such sweet embellishments.
Adorable matching buttons sewn on to the the hat using yarn or bits of ribbon.

You can also add pretty lace trims, making sure to stretch the hat, and pin in place, or the hat will be too tight. Stretch the hat as you sew the lace in place, and then add buttons or hand sew a bow or two…the possibilities are endless

If you want to add the layered button look to your hat, place buttons how you want them Pic 1, then scotch tape them in place Pic 2, Sew them in place. Pic 3 carefully remove scotch tape.

What a lovely touch to add embellishments to these sweet candy corn hats. Layer buttons and sew them on in an easy fashion, using scotch tape to hold them in place, or had stitch a bit of lace.
As if they candy corn hats aren’t adorable enough, adding buttons and bits of lace make them even sweeter.
