Let me show you how to crochet a turkey tail that you can applique to the adorable Turkey Tail Sweater. Crocheting the turkey tail is fairly easy. You crochet 13 or more feathers, and then sew them to the turkey tail base. If you would like an adfree pdf, it can be purchased on Etsy or Ravelry.
Turkey Tail Applique Tutorial
Round Turkey Bottom
ch 3, join in ring
Round 1:
ch 2; 12 dc in ring; join w/slp st to beg. dc
Round 2:
ch 2; 2 dc in joining st and in each st around; join w/slp st to beg. dc
Round 3:
ch 2; dc in joining st; 2 dc in nxt st; *dc in nxt st, 2 dc in nxt st;* repeat around; join w/slp st to beg. dc
Round 4:
ch 2; dc in joining st; dc in nxt st; 2 dc in nxt st; *(dc in nxt st) 2x; 2 dc in nxt st;* repeat around; join w/slp st to beg. dc; end off leave long tail for sewing on to the back hem of the sweater.
Feathers For The Turkey Tail
ch 8; sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in nxt ch; *dc in nxt ch;* 4x; 5 dc in last ch; *dc in back loop of nxt ch;* 4x; hdc in back loop of nxt ch; sc in back loop of last ch; slp st into beg. sc.
End off, leave a tail for sewing on to the Turkey Bottom.
Crochet 16 – 15 turkey feather’s in color’s of your choice.
Proceed to sew them on to the turkey bottom following the photo tutorial.

Sew the feathers to the round turkey bottom without sewing through the sweater. Affix all feathers to the round turkey bottom 1st, then sew the applique to the sweater.

I think adding a bow to the center of the Turkey Tail is so sweet…little girls toddling around with their turkey tail bouncing around and that bow just flipping around. How sweet!
