How To Embellish A Lace Baby Blanket

Embellishing this lace baby blanket is so easy. Once the baby blanket is embellished, it can be used as a photo prop or decoration in the baby’s nursery. (Warning! Do not use this blanket on a daily basis while it is embellished, as it can create a choking hazard)

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

Step 1: Let’s embellish this lace baby blanket

I am using elasticized lace to feed through the beading. I think satin ribbon would be lovely, or a floral grosgrain. You will need approximately 9 yds. I picked this elastic lace up at Hobby Lobby and I used 3 spools, approx. 9 yds.

Step 2

Here’s the first step to embellishing the lace baby blanket. Between each shell sample, of the Heirloom Shells Baby Blanket, there is a beading row. Cut 5 pieces of lace approx. 34″ – 36″ long.

Step 3

Start feeding the lace through the beading on the lace baby blanket. I start at the left edge. Make sure the right side of the lace is facing you. Leave a little bit of a tail at the top, as you will be folding this over and sewing into place, with a needle and thread.

Step 4

Then start feeding the lace through ever 4th space, putting the lace under the dc, and bringing it back up through.

Step 5

Do not pull the lace through in a tight bunch, fan it out so the beauty of the lace is showing.

Step 6

When you get to the end of the row, do not feed the lace into the lace border, stop at the side of the blanket.

Step 7

After you have fluffed the lace, making sure it is full and not tight, cut off the extra lace, leaving about an inch.

Step 8

Fold the lace over approx. 1/4″

Step 9

Then fold it in half.

Step 10

Fold the end over, one more time.

Step 11

Then using needle and matching thread, sew it into place.

Step 12

The sewing is finished…I am not the best at hand sewing. The go back to each dc that has the lace running under it, and sew the lace to the dc.

Step 13

Tie a pretty little pull tie bow using the lace, and then sew into place at either end of the beading rows. You will need 10 lace bows.
