They will happily display this tea basket along with other coffee bar baskets you have crocheted for them. The crochet pattern for this tea bag basket can be purchased at ETSY or RAVELRY. Keep scrolling to find the free pattern below.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

A crocheted basket sitting on a table. It is gray with white hears circling the basket. It is linked with a stiff fabric covered cardboard liner. The fabric is gray, black and white plaid flannel for a farmhouse feel. The basket has two different kinds of tea bags inside, and the basket is just waiting to be ushered to your coffee bar.

The stiff fabric covered lining can be removed for easy cleaning of the coffee bar crochet tea basket.

A change of fabric will create a new look for your coffee bar.The gray flannel plaid is so nice. It seems to give a farmhouse vibe.

The stiff fabric covered liner is removed and sitting beside the coffee bar crochet tea basket.

The Coffee Bar Crochet Tea Basket coordinates with the Proverbs Series Storage Items.

Coffee Bar Crochet Tea Basket Pattern

Beginning: Using MC, ch 11

Row 1:

sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 1 & Turn (10 st’s)

Row 2 – 28:

sc in 1st st and in each ch across; ch 1 & Turn; (10 st’s)

The rest of the pattern will be written in rounds, and the round numbers will start over.

Round 1:

(It is very helpful to watch this video, starting at the 2:30 mark) Turn slightly, and begin to sc around the edge of the base. starting with 3 sc st’s at the corner, placing it on the side of the sc that was just made.

Place a sc in the side of each row & Place 3 sc st’s at each corner, placing them at the edge or the side of the stitch.

Join w/slp st to first st made & ch1.

Stitch count is not important at this point, as we will take care of the stitch count by doing a little bit of math. Don’t worry, it’s easy.

Round 2:

bp hdc in 1st st, and in each st around, join w/slp st to beg. st, ch1 (83 sc)

Now it is time to do some Math. Count your stitches.

Please watch this video & fast forward to the 11.00 mark, and it will help you understand the reason for the math equation down below.

My stitch count was 83. The heart stitch requires a multiple of 6 stitches exactly. I will work the math equation using my numbers, but you will find a fill in the blank equation for you, below this equation. There is no wrong number count. If you have a stitch count that is divisible by 6, then decrease 3 stitches in Round’s 3 & 5.

Divide your stitch count by 6.

83 ÷ 6 = 13.8   Next multiply 6 x 13

6 x 13 = 78   Next subtract 78 from 83

83 – 78 = 5     I have 5 stitches left over. I will need to decrease by 5 stitches. If you have 3 stitches at the end of the equation, you will need to decrease by 3 stitches.

I will randomly, but evenly place markers around the basket, with a concentration of placing them on the sides of the basket. The sides of the basket will be soft and could collapse out. We need the sides of the basket to start pushing into the center.

Blank Equation For You To Fill In Your Numbers to create the coffee bar crochet tea basket:

  1. Your stitch count ÷ 6 = (whole number) dot. blah blah:

                          a. Next multiply 6 x by the whole number only
  2. 6 x whole number = a

                            b. Next subtract a from Your stitch count
  3. Your stitch count – a = b

                            c. The answer for step 3, is the amount of times you need to decrease, to get your stitch count, to a multiple of 6.

Round 3: You are looking at the outside of the coffee bar crochet tea basket  IMPORTANT: Switch to G-6/4.00 mm crochet hook

hdc in 1st/joining st, and in each st around, making sure to execute a hdc dec at each marker, join w/slp st to beg. hdc; ch 1

Round 4:

Execute 6 decreases around the perimeter of the basket, 2 on each side, and 1 on each short end. Do not decrease directly over the top of a decrease, in the previous round.

hdc in 1st/joining st, and in each st across, until you reach a marker, and then execute a hdc dec. join w/slp st to beg. hdc, dropping the MC and pulling up the CC at the join; ch 2 & Turn

Below is a photo showing all of the items in the Proverbs Series of Crochet Patterns. Keep scrolling to view the rest of the written crochet pattern for the coffee bar crochet tea basket.

A photo of all of the items that can be found in the proverbs series of crochet patterns. Mug Rug is in front, tea basket is far left, hot chocolate basket is next, then the large square crochet sweetheart cube cover and last the round k-cup basket. All items are gray and feature the heart stitch at the top.

Round 5 :

execute a beg. heart st in the first st, which was the last st of Round 4; *ch2, skp 5 st’s; heart st in nxt st;* repeat between *  * around; ch2, skp last 5 st’s, drop and end off CC, bring the CC tails to the inside of the basket, pull up MC at the join, but first make sure the MC at the front of the basket; join w/slp st to beg. ch1 & turn

Round 6:

*(drop into the row below the heart st, execute 1 hdc, in 2, 3 & 4, of the 5 sc st’s that were skipped) ch2,  sc in ch2 sp of heart st; ch 2* repeat around between the *  *; join w/slp st to beg. hdc; ch1

Round 7:

*sc in nxt 3 hdc st’s; sc in ch2 sp; sc in the sc at the top of nxt heart, sc in ch2 sp;* repeat between *  * around; join w/slp st to beg. sc. End off. weave in all ends.
