Easy To Crochet Over Brook Cotton Tee | Free Crochet Pattern

Try this easy to crochet Over Brook Cotton Tee. It is lovely when you crochet it using cotton yarn. Most sizes require only 2 cakes of Caron Cotton Cakes. Thank you to my pattern tester and model Deborah Thurmond. She used the colorway “Beach Glass”. She is created the cap sleeve version. The free crochet pattern is below, or you can purchase the ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

Using the stitches in the neckline has become a signature that is unique to my designs.

I have used this set of stitches in the Over Brook Poncho and the Round Puzzle Poncho. This past summer the Over Brook Baby Blanket has been part of a large Crochet Along. It was such a joy to see so many jump in and make that unique Baby Blanket. I don’t think I am finished using the Over Brook Stitches. I enjoy them so much. They are so versatile.

There is one size of the Over Brook Cotton Tee, found below.

If you would like to purchase the all size inclusive ad free pdf, that includes charts, it can be purchased at RAVELRY & ETSY.

The crochet pattern for the Over Brook Cotton Tee is easy to read.

You will find tips on how to tailor the cotton tee to your body type. The crochet pattern will instruct you on what kind of yarn is best to use. You will find options in the crochet pattern. You may want cap sleeves like Deb Thurmond. You may want sleeves with ribbing. You might want a long sleeve that has the Over Brook Stitches at the cuff. (Pattern will be written soon for the long sleeves)

This pattern will show you how to easily compensate for a large bust line.

This is considered and Over Sized Tee. It is graded to fit loosely. It is easy to add more stitches to the bust line of the Over Brook Tee. The instruction to add more stitches is at the beginning of Round 9. If you have larger hips the pattern will instruct you on how to do that

I am excited to bring you this lovely pattern.

Let your creative juices soar when choosing the yarn and design elements. You are the artist and the crochet pattern is the canvas. The hook is your brush and the yarn as your paint. The possibilities are endless.

Easy Over Brook Cotton Tee Crochet Pattern

Yarn Used: (I strongly recommend cotton yarn)

2 cakes of Caron Cotton Ripple Cakes was used to make the Peach/Coral Tee. It isn’t always available. You can read about this yarn and it’s good and bad qualities HERE.

2 cakes of Caron Cotton Cakes in “Beach Glass” were used by Deb Thurmond. She is pictured modeling her sleeveless Over Brook Tee. The size she tested and is wearing is the S/M

I will be using Caron Cotton Cakes in Driftwood to create the video on youtube. I will also demonstrate how to make a long sleeve with Over Brook Stitches at the cuff.

Neckline of the Cotton Over Brook Tee

Designer Notes:

1. While I was designing this cotton tee, I wanted the lace part of the neckline to be above the cleavage. It may seem small when you are starting out, but the cotton yarn will drag and open the neckline, for a better fit.

If you are using acrylic yarn, the neckline will not open up, as a cotton neckline will open up.

2. This pattern includes charts that are not inclusive of every round. The charts are self-explanatory and are there as a guide only. If you are a beginner that is advancing, the charts should be a help to you.

3. I have given some rounds a title. If I had to put my work on hold, this helped me find my place in the pattern when I was able to work on it again.

Size Key:

(XS) (S/M) (L/XL) (1x-2x) (3x – 4x)

The written pattern below, it a S/M
Loosely Ch 81 (S & M) & join in a ring, being very careful not to twist.

If the neckline seems too small for you, but you want to continue with the size you are working on.

Option 1: Add at least four to 6 chains to the base. Work the extra chains into Round 1 by periodically skipping 3, instead of two. Evenly spacing the skip three chains throughout. This should give you more ease. If you still aren’t happy.

Option 2: go up one size, execute a ch 3 only, instead of a ch 4, that are between the sc stitches at round 5 & 7. When you get to round 9, continue in the size you are wanting to crochet.

Round 14:

Size Adjustment Tip: The clusters are considered the yoke corners. When trying the yoke on, the clusters should be an inch or two below where your underarm breaks.

Repeat Row 10. Add 2 stitches to the end st count for each shoulder and the front and back, for a total of 8 stitches. End stitch count for row 15 is as follows

Shoulder 1 (28 dc) Front ( 42 dc) Shoulder 2 ( 28 dc) Back ( 42 dc)

Round 15:

Size Adjustment Tip: Keeping in mind that this is an over sized tee, If you would like to make a larger or smaller bodice, this is the area to add or decrease inches, add or decrease chains at the underarm chain.

Beginning ch 3 does not count as a stitch now or throughout the remainder of the pattern, unless otherwise noted.

slp st into ch 2 sp of prev. cluster V; ch3, dc in ch 2 sp. ch 8; skip all Shoulder stitches (underarm chain made)

Front: dc in ch 2 sp of prev. cluster V; dc in the 2nd cluster of the same cluster V; dc in ch 2 space; dc in each dc across until you reach the ch 2 sp; dc in ch 2 sp, dc in 1st cluster of prev. cluster V, dc in ch 2 sp of prev. cluster V; ch 8 and skip all shoulder stitches (underarm chain made) (49 dc)

Back: dc in ch 2 sp of prev. cluster V; dc in the 2nd cluster of the same cluster V; dc in ch 2 space; dc in each dc across until you reach the ch 2 sp; dc in ch 2 sp, dc in 1st cluster of prev. cluster V; join w/slp st to beg. dc (54 dc)

Bodice Of the Over Brook Cotton Tee

Size Adjustment Tip: (The following tips are in addition to the increases that are in the written pattern)

If you are wanting to make a larger or smaller bodice you can add increases or decreases.

One place to increase or decrease is to add more chains to the underarm chain.

Another place to increase or decrease is the under arm area of the bodice. When you get past the underarm chain, place them randomly and evenly per row.

Add increases or decreases in the hip or stomach area if needed.

Adding length to the bodice of the tee is another good choice. You don’t want the bottom of the tee to land at the widest part of your body. A few inches below is always best.

Round 16:

ch 3, dc in joining st; dc in each ch of the underarm ch, dc in each dc across the front, dc in each underarm ch, dc in each dc across the back, join w/slp st to beg. dc.  ( 140 dc)

Round 17:

NOTE:

1. Follow the written increase instructions while making the Bodice for sizes (M, XL, 2x & 4x) ONLY

2. One increase under each arm. Add 2 increases across the front, placing them at side of the breast that is closest to the underarm. Do not place increases at the apex of the breast.

ch 3, dc in joining st & in each dc around, placing the increases in the place indicated; join w/slp st to beg. ch 3

Round: 18:

NOTE: One increase under each arm

ch 3, dc in joining st & in each dc around, placing the increases in the place indicated above; join w/slp st to beg. ch 3

Rounds 19-32:

NOTE: Add 4 more increases. You can do this in the underarm area. I recommend 1 increase per round. The increases should not be sitting on top of each other. If you would like more width. I recommend as many increases as you see fit.

Please feel free to add length to the Over Brook Tee.

ch 3, dc in joining st & in each dc around, placing the increases in the place indicated above; join w/slp st to beg. ch 3

Round 33-35:  Ribbing Rounds

CH 1, (Does not count as stitch) fp hdc around joining stitch and nxt dc; bp hdc around nxt dc;  *fp hdc around nxt 2 dc; bp hdc around nxt dc* Repeat from * to* around making sure to end with a bp hdc; join w/slp st to beg. fp hdc. End off at the end of Row 38 and weave in all ends.

Optional Sleeves: Round Numbers Will Start Over

Round 1:

Attach yarn at the center of the underarm. Use a Standing DC or attach with a slip st and ch 2; proceed to dc around the entire armscye or armhole, join w/slp st to beg. dc. This is a very loose fitting sleeve. Stitch count doesn’t need to be exact, you just need to be in this stitch range. (54 dc)

Round 2-6

NOTE: Decrease one stitch at the underarm area for every row completed. If you would like a tighter sleeve, decrease 2x for every round.

Ch2, dc in joining st and in each st around, executing a dec at the underarm area; join w/slp st to beg. dc

Round 7&8: Ribbing Rounds

CH 1, (Does not count as stitch) fp hdc around joining stitch and nxt dc; bp hdc around nxt dc;  *fp hdc around nxt 2 dc; bp hdc around nxt dc* Repeat from * to* around making sure to end with a bp hdc; join w/slp st to beg. fp hdc. End off at the end of Round 10 and weave in all ends.
