Mainstays 100% cotton yarn was used to crochet the Shells Washcloth Dishcloth.

I fell in love with the colors of this very soft yarn. It isn’t as stiff as most cotton dishcloth yarn. It is flexible and easily slides across your crochet hook. I haven’t washed this yarn yet. I will update you after I do.

Using a sequence of double crochet and shell stitches is a change from most Shell stitch sequences.

I have always loved to crochet the shell stitch, and this sequence places two double crochet stitches beside each other, between each shell. Then when the next row is executed, the shell is placed between those double crochet stitches.

Other crochet designs from Krissy’s Over The Mountain Crochet have featured this shell stitch variation.

The first time this stitch was used a beautiful baby blanket came to life. It is called the “Baby Blue Blanket”.  It was so disappointing when the yarn was discontinued. The next design was an Heirloom Shells Sampler Blanket. Imagine how frustrating it was to find out that yarn was discontinued as well. Both blankets are beautiful and can easily be duplicated in an alternative yarn.
