Edge Rounds – Baby Blue Cotton Blanket

Round 1:

ch1, proceed to sc down the side of the blanket, and around the entire blanket executing 3 sc st’s at each corner. Evenly space the stitches. A good pattern to implement is 2 sc in the side of each dc and 1 sc in the side of each ch 2, when executing sc st’s up and down the side. You may need to add an extra sc periodically to keep the edge smooth and neat and to achieve the stitch count.

1st Side Edge: ch 1, turn slightly, sc 87x down the side; 3 sc st’s at the corner; (87 sc + 3 sc at the corner)

Bottom Edge: sc 81x across the bottom; 3 sc st’s at the corner; (81 sc + 3 sc at the corner)

2nd Side Edge: sc 87x up the second side ( 87 sc); 3 sc at the corner; (87 sc + 3 sc at the corner)

Bottom Edge: skip 2 st’s;  sc in nxt st, skp 2 st’s; *shell in nxt, skp 2 st’s, sc in the nxt; skp 2 st’s;* repeat across the bottom so that you have 13 shells evenly placed; 7 dc’s in the 2nd st of the three st’s that were placed at the corner. (13 shells + 7 shell)

This is such a beautiful baby afghan. I never make baby things because my grands are now teens and young adults. Now, it looks like I am going to need to make one because I now have a great grand on the way. Can’t think of one more beautiful than this one! Perfect timing!
