The yarn is beautiful and the blanket is so squishy. You will find a yarn review below telling you about this yarn. Make sure to watch the whole video as you will see a sneak peek of the Heirloom Blanket that will be part of a Crochet Along/Make Along (CAL/MAL)
I want to show you how easy it is to crochet this blue cotton Baby Blanket.
Who doesn’t love the shell stitch. There are so many different ways to present a shell stitch. I had great fun designing the border. The wider the border grew the larger the shell stitches became on the border. I have added row by row charts for the border that will help you along.

Round 1:
- ch1, proceed to sc down the side of the blanket, and around the entire blanket executing 3 sc st’s at each corner.
- Evenly space the stitches. A good pattern to implement is 2 sc in the side of each dc and 1 sc in the side of each ch 2, when executing sc st’s up and down the side.
- You may need to add an extra sc periodically to keep the edge smooth and neat and to achieve the stitch count.
- 1st Side Edge: ch 1, turn slightly, sc 87x down the side; 3 sc st’s at the corner; (87 sc + 3 sc at the corner)
- Bottom Edge: sc 81x across the bottom; 3 sc st’s at the corner; (81 sc + 3 sc at the corner)
- 2nd Side Edge: sc 87x up the second side ( 87 sc); 3 sc at the corner; (87 sc + 3 sc at the corner)

Hi Kris, I started the Baby Blue blanket about a month ago. I had to put it down to make a prayer shawl. I have come back to your website to continue but the actual free pattern is missing. All the information on the specialty stitches are there. Am I missing where to find the pattern? I am about half way through the base pattern but I need the instructions for the rest. Can you help me please.
Kris says
Hi Becky,
The time has come that I will be putting a lot of my crochet patterns as premium only. There are several reasons for this. I am keeping a lot of my crochet patterns as free, but this pattern will no longer be free on the blog.
However you asked at just the right time, because this pattern is being featured in the Home Decor Event, and tomorrow is when it is being featured. Click on the link below. Scroll down to January 18th, and follow the rules and you may win the ad free pdf that will include all charts to help you along.
