Free Crochet Pattern for a Heart Cloche Hat

Are you looking for a fun and elegant crochet project with hearts? This Free Crochet Pattern for a Heart Cloche Hat is just what you need! With its charming design and the use of the Floating Heart Crochet Stitch, this hat is perfect for Valentine’s Day or even as part of a Queen of Hearts costume. You can purchase the ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY.

What Makes the Heart Cloche Hat So Special?

This crochet cloche is unique because the hearts aren’t appliqued—they’re crocheted directly into the design, appearing to “float” beautifully on the hat. The clever use of the heart crochet stitch ensures that the hearts are integrated seamlessly as you work. Here is a photo tutorial that shows you how to crochet this floating heart stitch.

Customization Options

Imagine the possibilities for color combinations:

The addition of dainty bows at the base of the hearts adds a final touch of whimsy and elegance. You can also experiment with contrasting or coordinating colors for the bows. I have a video tutorial and a photo tutorial on how to make those pull tie bows.

Is This Pattern for You?

This crochet hat pattern is rated for intermediate crocheters. It involves working around the post, joining new colors, and some hand-sewing for the bows. If you’re up for a creative challenge, this pattern will reward you with a stunning finished project.

Shape all hearts into place and sew bows at the base of hearts. I think a gingham check ribbon, and solid ribbon  would look fantastic, but I am snowed in up a holler in West Virginia, and I wasn’t able to get to my supply  station. I think a drop pearl would be pretty at the bottom of the heart.
