Pattern Notes:
Beginning Chain or beginning CH 2 does not count as a stitch
Pic tutorial 1: The Cluster stitch is unique, as each row of stitches has a right/left tilt to it. It is easy to use the CH 1 space to execute the cluster, but it will not give you the right/left tilt. The Pic below is showing where to insert your hook, for the next row of clusters. Pic 1: Notice the arrows are pointing to the “V” where you insert your hook to execute the cluster stitch. You are executing the cluster directly into the cluster st.
Pic. 2 shows the cluster stitch that was made, and it will tilt, when you execute the next Cluster stitch.
Square Washcloth
Beginning Chain – CH 20 (Chain the Beginning Chain in a loose fashion)
Row 1: SC in 2nd CH from hook and in each CH across; CH1 and Turn (This is your foundation, and executing your SC loosely is advised. It will keep the base from curling.) (19 SC)
Row 2: *CLUSTER in 1st st; *CH1, skip nxt st, CLUSTER in nxt st; * 9x; CH 2, Turn (10 Clusters)
Row 3: CLUSTER in 1st CLUSTER; * CH 1, CLUSTER in nxt CLUSTER; * 9x; CH 2, Turn (10 Clusters)
Row 4-17: Repeat Row 3
Row 18: Repeat Row 3, (but do not CH 2 or Turn at the end of the row)
Edging Rounds will follow (Round numbers will start over)
Please see Pic tutorial 2:
Edge Round 1: CH 1, 17 SC spaced evenly down the side; 3 SC in nxt corner; 17 SC across the bottom; 3 SC at corner; 17 SC spaced evenly up the side; 3 SC at corner; 17 SC across the top; ending with 3 SC at last corner; join w/SLP ST in beg. SC when you arrive back at the beginning. (17 SC on each side of washcloth; 17 stitches across the top and bottom, with 3 stitches in each corner: 80 total stitches)
Edge Round 2: Skip st, 3 DC in nxt st; * CH 3, Skip ST, SLP ST in nxt ST, Skip ST, 3 DC in nxt ST; * Repeat around; join w/SLP ST in beg. SLP ST or joining st End Off and weave in and secure ends.
