Crochet Tutorial for Mini Bean Stitch
If you’re new to the mini bean stitch, don’t worry—this pattern includes detailed instructions and visuals to guide you through the process. Bonus, Here is a video tutorial on how to crochet the mini bean stitch. I do love using this crochet stitch. The mini bean stitch creates a delightful cluster effect that’s both sturdy and elegant, making it perfect for this round basket design. Add your own touch by weaving in lace or ribbon to the drop-over lace edge.
I have a few other designs that use the mini bean stitch, here are a couple.
The Lemon Framhouse Crochet Basket with a Hard Liner. You can stuff it with crocheted lemons. There is also coordinating Lemon Farmhouse Towel Topper. I think the mini bean stitch looks like little lemons in a row, when you use lemon yellow yarn.
Reviews from Fellow Crocheters
Here’s what others have said about this pattern:
- gis60 (5 stars): “This pattern has very detailed instructions and explains very clearly how to make the stitches. There is even a visual to help you. Very cute item.”
- Sharon (5 stars): “Received pattern instantly. I love the vintage design of the basket. It is so elegant.”
- Oase: “This basket is so pretty. I used all 3 yarns together to create the bottom of the basket, then just used the blue and green to make the lace. Since my basket came out so tall, I folded the upper part of the basket down to where the lace meets the bottom of the basket. Perfect size to add the 3 washcloths and a great baby shower gift.”

The Cluster stitch is unique, as each row of stitches has a right and left tilt to it. It is easy to use the CH 1 space to execute the cluster, but it will not give you the right, left tilt. The Pic below is showing where to insert your hook, for the next row of clusters. Pic 1: Notice the arrows are pointing to the “V” where you insert your hook to execute the cluster stitch. You are executing the cluster directly into the cluster st.
Pic. 2 shows the cluster stitch that was made, and it will tilt, when you execute the next Cluster stitch.
