This large basket crochet basket with handles can be made in an evening. It becomes sturdy when you add a fabric covered cardboard liner. It is 35″ around, 13″ tall and has a 12″ diameter. The crochet pattern is easy to read and requires 2 strands of yarn to be held throughout the design. 1 1/4 yds of fabric and 1 poster board needed to add the liner to the basket. The free crochet pattern is below, or purchase the ad free pdf, that includes all tutorials at RAVELRY or ETSY.
I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.
Watch the Facebook live video to see how to add that fabric covered cardboard liner to this basket. You will need 1 1/4 yd of fabric, a poster board, pencil, ruler and a glue gun. You can use this method to add a fabric covered cardboard insert to any crocheted basket. The Red Basket and White Basket are free patterns on this blog.

I think I already have this one, but still haven’t made it yet. I really want to make some baskets. I have a ton of scrap yarn I’ve been saving. Hopefully soon.
Deborah Montgomery says
I want to try this pattern, I want to teach my crochet group called Needles for Needs how to do a basket and this would be perfect. I have young ladies from age 8 to 80 learning to crochet and always looking for things we can do and then give to resource centers, hospitals, rehab centers, nursing homes and the like. We could make these baskets and fill with needs and give to a charity.
