I love the functionality of a towel topper, but I also like a unique design. Here is my spin on a crocheted towel topper, that is sewn on to the corner of a towel, creating a bias drape that is beautiful. The Mini Bean stitch looks like little lemons, all in a row!
I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.
This towel topper is so unique. It uses the concept that the towel wraps around the oven or fridge handle, and feeds through the crochet band that is sewn on to the towel! You will want to make the Lemon Farmhouse Towel Topper, as it coordinates with the other Lemon Farmhouse Table Decor Items
Here is a youtube short on how to sew the towel topper on to the towel, and how to wrap it around a handle.
This is a trendy item to take to a craft show, plus they are great for gift giving. When you find a cute towel that has an all over print, just follow the directions in the free crochet pattern found below, and the towel will hang and drape in a beautiful way from your oven or fridge handle. You can even add them to towel racks in the bathroom.
Lemon Farmhouse Towel Topper
Red Heart Super Saver; MC= White; CC1 Yellow; CC2 = Navy. I highly recommend using cotton yarn & acrylic is suitable as long as it isn’t exposed to a lot of heat.
Towel Topper -MC = White – 35 yds; CC1 = Yellow – 15 yds
Notes on Yarn Used:
If using a lightweight cotton such as Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Cotton” it will make a smaller product.
MC = Main Color = White
CC1 = Contrasting Color = Yellow
CC2 = Contrasting Color = Navy
ch = Chain
sc = Single Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
join w/ = join with
slp st = Slip Stitch
skp = Skip
sp. = Space
nxt = Next
prev. = previous
st./st’s = stitch or stitches
beg. = beginning
* * = Complete sequence between the stars, the number of times stated;
x = Times; example Repeat 2 x or 2 times; 3 x or 3 times and so on;
in = example “in nxt st” means you will be inserting the hook under the top two loops of the next stitch to complete stitch or sequence of stitches stated
yo = Yarn Over
Special Stitch Guide:
mb = Mini Bean Stitch = insert hook into the stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook into the same st, draw up a loop, yo, draw thru all 4 loops on hook, ch 1 to close the stitch.
The mb stitch is a unique cluster stitch. When the pattern is worked in rows each row of stitches has a right and left tilt. It is easy to use the ch 1 space to execute the cluster, but it will not give you the right, left tilt.

Sew the towel topper to the corner of the towel you are using. I use the corner that has the tag. With the right side of the towel facing you, measure 4″ down on each side of the corner, and place a pin at the 4″ mark. Place the top of the towel topper at the pin marks, on both sides, and pin in place. Proceed to sew with a sewing needle and thread. When the towel topper is in place, tuck the upper corner to the inside. Turn over the towel, and roll the long edges of the towel to the center, on both sides. The towel will be strait and condensed into a tube. Feed the bottom or tail of the tube down through the top of the towel topper, bringing it up and over, from behind.
Below is a quick tutorial on how to sew the towel topper on to the towel, and how to roll and feed the towel through the topper, so that it wraps around a handle.
