How to make a doll bed for a Moses Basket is easy. Follow the steps below. I am creating this doll bed for the Bunny Stitch Moses Basket, but the same steps can be used to make a doll bed for any Moses Basket.

Supplies:
You will need stiff cardboard (8″w x 12″h) a pencil, a small amount of poyfil stuffing, fabric of choice 1/2yd. scissors, hot glue gun, glue sticks, exacto knife, & 23″ of 1.5″ wide satin ribbon, or embellishments of your choice.

1. Place the Moses basket on the cardboard
Use a pencil to trace around the bottom of the moses basket. Put the pencil just under the edge of the ridge when tracing the bottom, as it will need to be slightly smaller than the outside of the basket.
a. Place the moses basket on the cardboard.
b. Trace around the base, putting the pencil just under the ridge.
c. Use an exacto knife to cut out the base, following the tracing.
2. Cut the cardboard out.
You should have an oval that will fit nicely on the inside of the basket. If seems too tight, trim 1/4″ off completely around.
a. The base should be approx. 10″h x 5.5″w
b. Place the base on a folded piece of fabric, and begin to cut around the base.
c. Cut 2″ wider than the base. You will have 2 pieces of oval fabric.
d. There will be two oval pieces of fabric.
3. Cut slits in “both” pieces of fabric, while the cardboard is in place. Using the poly fil, make a fluffy pillow on the top of the cardboard.
a. Cut the slits in both pieces of fabric, using the cardboard as a guide. The slits should be 1/4″ away from the cardboard. Approx. 1 3/4″
b. Shred and pull apart the poly fil and place it in clumps, so that it makes a nice mound.
c. Use hot glue to hold the poly fil in place. It should be a generous mound of polyfil.
d. Place “one” of the pieces of fabric over the mound. Centering this piece of fabric, so that the slits will be under the cardboard.
4. Turn everything over, and begin to glue the tabs in place.
a. Glue the tabs in place, one at a time, using a North, South, East, West application.
b. Continue gluing tabs in place, making sure to pull the fabric taut.
c. When all tabs are glued in place, the top of the baby bed is finished and ready for the doll, but the bottom needs to be covered first.
5. Lets cover the back of the bed with the second oval piece. The slits need to be cut deeper into the “second” piece of fabric.
a. Use scissors to cut the slits a 1/4″ deeper in the second piece of fabric.
b. The tabs will need to be trimmed. Use scissors to trim off 3/4″ to 1″ all the way around the perimeter of this second piece of fabric.
c. Finger press the tabs toward the center of the oval piece of fabric.
d. Use a hot iron to iron the tabs into place.
6. Use the ironed second piece of fabric to cover the back of the moses bed, that has exposed cardboard.
a. Place the ironed piece of fabric on the back of the doll bed
b. Make sure that all raw edges are covered by this piece of fabric.
c. Lift back the ironed piece, a little at a time, and iron in place.
7. After the back is glued on, put it in the Bunny Stitch Moses Basket
a.How exciting it is to have a finished bed for your doll. Now it is time to embellish the hood.
b.Add bits of lace and ribbon. You could also make a loopy pull tie bow.
