Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap | Free Crochet Pattern

Let me show you how to crochet this Peekaboo Ridge chemo cap. It is crocheted using Lion Brand Coboo yarn. Since my Breast Cancer Diagnosis in 2021, I have made it my mission to design beautiful and functional chemo head gear, that is soft and tender to the skin.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in October of 2021.

I always thought that I would be devastated if I was told I had cancer, but God gave me total peace. Surgery was needed. A mastectomy was performed the following November. God was with me the whole way. What a blessing it was, that I didn’t have to go through Chemo or Radiation. Doctors wanted me to try an endocrine treatment, but I was unable to handle the side effects.

During the time I was waiting to find out what kind of treatments were needed, I was inspired to design beautiful chemo head gear.

Wearing crochet chemo caps that are beautiful and functional, was at the forefront of my mind. It was important to design chemo caps that I would be happy to wear. The first chemo cap that I designed was with Pipsqueak Yarn. It sports a turned up brim that is the perfect canvas to embellish with brooches, buttons or flowers.

I stopped in at the Cancer Center while I was visiting my oncologist to ask what kind of crochet chemo caps they needed.

They said that chemo caps made with pipsqueak yarn is good for winter, but summer chemo caps are needed. So the Mesh Chemo Cap came off my hook. It was my first time using Lion Brand Coboo yarn. The next hat was a banded Mesh Bucket Chemo Cap. I love how the brim can be embellished with little bits of flowers and beads. I wanted something special for Mother’s Day or Easter.

Below is a video support on how to crochet the Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap.

The peekaboo ridge stitch adds just a little bit of air flow.

You will love making this chemo cap for a lady or man. This easy texture is fun to crochet and fashionable to wear. There is a free version below, but the ad free pdf that includes 3 sizes can be purchased at RAVELRY and ETSY.

The Cancer Center also said they needed chemo caps for men. I feel like this chemo cap would be something a man would wear. I asked my younger friends if their husbands would wear this Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap, if it were in dark colors. They resoundingly said yes, their husband would wear this hat.

I had designed a few chemo caps prior to my Breast Cancer diagnosis.

The Peekaboo Ridge chemo cap is the fourth hat I have designed since my cancer diagnosis.

The childs chemo cap I designed used Lion Brands Homespun Thick and Quick. The next womans chemo cap also used Lion Brand Homespun, but it wasn’t the Thick and Quick. It’s a beautiful hat with a peaked turned up brim. I also designed a crochet chemo cap with a turned up brim that uses either Lion Brand Hometown or Homespun yarn. It is so easy to make a two toned hat with this turned  up brim

Below are the three of the chemo caps that I have designed since being diagnosed with cancer.
