Easy To Crochet Chunky Shells Hat

This easy to crochet Chunky Shells Hat is one of my go to hats, when preparing for a craft show. They are so fast to crochet. There are so many bulky yarns out there that you can use to create a warm and cozy hat.

I may use affiliate links in this post. If you click on the link and make a purchase it won’t cost you a thing. It will help me buy yarn and craft supplies. Thank you for supporting my small business.

Adding a fur pom poms to these chunky shells hat will help you step up your style.

The younger crowd will happily wear one of these chunky shells hat when you add a fur pom pom. Here is a tutorial on how to make your own fur pom pom.

There are various (6) weight yarns that you can use to make this chunky shells hat for an adult.

I love to use Lion Brand, Wool Ease, Thick and Quick Yarn. It isn’t suitable for chemo patients as there is wool in that yarn. Lion Brand Hometown is an acrylic yarn, and it is more suitable for a chemo hat. However some chemo patients can’t handle an acrylic hat.

You can use a (5) weight yarn and it will be the right size for a child.

Lion Brands “Feels Like Bliss” looks like a good option. I might give that a try in the near future. Let me know if you have used this yarn before.

The crochet pattern for the Chunky Shells Hat is easy to read. It also has a photo tutorial on how to make that fur pom pom.Purchase the ad free pdf crochet pattern for this hat pattern right here at RAVELRY or ETSY.

I really had a good time using up my scraps to make this lovely Blue Snowflake Chunky Shells Hat.

I had a lot of yarn odds and ends. Just little balls and I just grabbed them and made this fantastic looking hat. I love the color variations. Such a pretty hat.

You may have a large amount of scraps that would make lovely Chunky Shells Hats.

I also love how the variegated Thick and Quick Yarn looks using this stitch pattern in the photo below. It seems as if it were made specifically for this hat.

There is also a Black and Cream Variegated in the Lion Brand Thick and Quick Yarn.

I had several of these hats at my last craft show. The variegated hats sold first. Bonus is how fast they are to crochet.

Here is what you need to crochet this easy and fast Chunky Shells Hat.

Yes, use up those scraps! It really does make a lovely chunky shells hat. Some of the brooches I used on these hats can be purchased at Wal Mart in the button section. Just a few dollars and you have the perfect amount of bling.

Some of the blingy brooches I picked up at Wal Mart in the buttons section. They have so many pretty options! Some of them are vintage pieces of jewelry. Some of those big brown buttons are coconut shell buttons. You can purchase them on Ravelry.

Your 10 year story gives hope to so many! Thank you for sharing! I feel the same. Confindence and self esteem take a huge hit when going through Cancer. I want others to feel beautiful!

Last Christmas, I made close to 100 hats and some neckwarmers using my leftover chunky yarns and donated to homeless/mentally ill people in a nearby town where I live. This Shell hat would be perfect to add to my patterns using chunky yarn. It’s very pretty. I still have lots of chunky yarn along with worsted weight to make a bunch more this year.

I appreciate your gifts for Cancer. I’ve dealt with my own journey with breast cancer. I went through radical surgeries but was fortunate/blessed to catch it in the very early stages and did not have to do chemo or radiation. Unfortunately my sister was was not so lucky and went through chemo, radiation and multiple surgeries and then ended up losing her battle after two years. This is a great ministry to provide for Cancer patients. Thank you.
