How To Crochet A Diamond Shells Mug Rug – Free Crochet Pattern

Let me show you how to crochet a Diamond Shells Mug Rug. It is easy. I love how there is enough room for your coffee cup and a cookie or muffin. This is great when having your morning devotions, or an afternoon break. The free crochet pattern is below or you can purchase and ad free pdf on Ravelry and Etsy.

These beautiful mug rugs are made out of cotton yarn. They easily soak up the spills and are big enough for a cookie and your cup of coffee!

Grab the Caramel Snickers Coffee Happyccino recipe before you scroll any farther as you will want to try this delicious concoction that is so good hot or cold.

This post may contain affiliate links when clicked on I may receive a small commission at no cost to you. Thank you!

You can leave the mug rugs plain or add a button.

Adding a little bit of ribbon tied into a knot, to the side of the mug rug is pretty too! I cut a strand of ribbon. Tied into a knot, then used sewing needle and thread to attach the ribbon. You can always use glue if you would like. Then again I really do love a good button.

4 diamond shells mug rigs with ribbons at the side are laid on a table, in a shingle fashion. Pastel colors were used.

These mug rugs are a compliment to the Diamond Shells Placemats.

The placemat pattern is easy and make your table so pretty! Change the color  and ribbon theme according to the season’s.

Diamond Shells Mug Rug Crochet Pattern is below.

Optional Ribbon Embellishments: 4.5” piece of 1.5” wide Floral Fabric Ribbon. You can choose ribbon that matches a holiday. For instance, 4th of July, Christmas, Thanksgiving or Back to School. Just a few ideas for ya. To add a little knot bow, tie the 4.5″piece of ribbon into a knot and glue to the side of the mug rug or stitch on with sewing needle and thread.

The embellishments you suggested really make this a standout piece! I love your suggestion for holiday ribbons. I make mug rugs and coasters for my hubby, and he uses and keeps them all! I will definitely make one of these for him. Great design, thank you!

YW! I am trying to stay warm…I am huddled under a blanket right now…as my husband is bringing in the wood. It is causing a bit of a draft, but I’m thankful he can do the heavy lifting.

Such a pretty stitch for a mug rug. Little bit bigger will make a pretty dishcloth. I think I need a new rug for my mug. Thanks.
