Let me show you how to crochet a chunky cowl that has a little bit of rippled texture. The bulky yarn is the star of this show. You can use any variety of boucle bulky yarn to crochet this neck warmer.
This chunky cowl has a coordinating chunky bucket hat that is easy and fast to crochet.
Crocheting with a Boucle yarn can be a little tricky. I found that using a crochet hook that doesn’t snag on the fibers, and going a little slower is very helpful. You can find the free crochet pattern, in one size, for the matching bucket hat RIGHT HERE.

chain 70 and join in a ring, make sure not to twist the chain.
Round 1: sc in joining st, sc in nxt 3 ch’s, skp ch, hdcV in nxt ch, skp ch; *sc in nxt 4 ch’s, skp ch, hdcV in nxt ch, skp ch;* 9x; skp last ch, do not join ( 40 sc, 10 hdcV)
Round 2: *sc in nxt 4 st’s, hdcV in ch2 sp of prev. hdcV;* Repeat sequence between * * until the cowl is the height you want. I crocheted 16 more rounds. This made my cowl 7” tall.
You are welcome to continue adding more rounds if you would like your cowl to be taller than 7”.
Finishing Off: Finish the cowl by slip stitching in a sc st; end off and weave in all yarn tails. Do not finish in a hdcV st, as this would leave a weird bump.
Finished Measurements: Height = 7”; Around = 30”;
Each repeat sequence (4sc and 1 hdcV) = 3”
