Crochet Pattern Details

Designer Notes

  1. Pattern is written in U.S. crochet terms.

  2. Portions of the pattern are worked in the round.

  3. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of each round for accuracy.

Supplies You’ll Need

  • Yarn: Red Heart Ombre or Red Heart Super Saver (approximately 200–250 yards).
    Cotton yarn may also be used but will have a bit more stretch.

  • Hook: G/6 – 4.00 mm crochet hook.

  • Notions: Yarn needle, scissors, and measuring tape.

  • Optional: Ribbon or yarn for Fat Pull Tie Bows.

  • Gauge: 4 inches high x 4 inches wide = 18 sc rows high x 13 sc stitches wide.

    fp hdc Front Post Half Double Crochet
    bp hdc Back Post Half Double Crochet

    Terminology:

    • beg. = beginning

    • nxt = next

    • x = times (for example, repeat 2x or 3x)

    • *** *** = work the sequence between stars the number of times indicated

    • in nxt st = insert hook under the top two loops of the next stitch

     ch3 & join in a ring or use the magic circle

    Round 1:
    ch1 hdc in ring 10x; join w/slp st to beg. hdc (10 hdc)

    Round 2:
    ch1, 2 hdc in joining st; *2 hdc in nxt st;* 9x; join w/slp st to beg. hdc (20 hdc)

    Round 3:
    ch1, hdc in joining st, 2hdc in nxt st; *hdc in nxt st, 2hdc in nxt st;* 9x; join w/slp st to beg. hdc (30 hdc)

    Round 4:

    ch1, hdc in joining st & nxt st, 2hdc in nxt st; *hdc in nxt 2st’s, 2hdc in nxt st;* 9x; join w/slp st to beg. hdc (40 hdc)
    Measurement – 3.75” across

    Round 5: hbp hdc = High Back Post Half Double Crochet = High Back Post Half Double Crochet (insert hook from back to front around to the back again, HIGH above the post, above the 3rd loop) link to video tutorial is found in the stitch key.

    ch1, hbp hdc in joining st; * hbp hdc in nxt st and each remaining st around; join w/slp st to beg. hbp hdc (40 hbp hdc)

    Round 6:  ch22 (Note: ch2 will recede and become a mock bp hdc); fp hdc around 1st hdc;  *bp hdc around nxt hdc, fp hdc around nxt hdc;* complete sequence between * * around; join  w/slp st in 2nd ch of beg. ch2 (40 st’s)

    Round 7&8: Repeat Round 6

    Round 9: ch1, sc in joining st and in each st around; do not join

    Round 10-31: sc in nxt st; place a marker in this 1st st; *sc in nxt st* 39x or until you reach the marker. Repeat remembering to move the marker (I leave the original marker on round 10. Use a second marker at round 11, and move that marker for all of the other rounds.

    At the end of Round 31, slp st in next st. This will be the beg of the next round

    Round 32: ch2, this will recede and become a bp hdc; fp hdc in nxt st; *bp hdc in nxt st, fp hdc in nxt st;* 19x; join w/slp st to 2nd ch of beg. ch2; (40 st’s)

    Round 33-35: repeat round 32 do not end off
    Measurement – rounds 6-35 = 7.5”

    Handle
    Chain 120, being careful not to twist the chain, slp st to the opposite side (fold the carrier in half and place a marker directly across from the beg. of the chain if you wish)

    While at the opposite side, slp st in the next st, that is left of the join; ch2; dc in each chain;
    When you arrive at the opposite side, skp 1 stitch; slp st or join in the nxt st;

    ch1 & turn; sc in each dc back across.

    When arriving at the opposite side, skp one stitch and slp st in the next. End off and weave in all ends.

    Handle Measurement: 34.5″
