This Crochet Poinsettia Towel Topper is a festive and functional project that adds a handmade touch to your kitchen. The 3D petals, the textured center, and the hidden elastic ponytail holder make it both beautiful and practical.

How the Elastic Ponytail Holder Works
The elastic ponytail holder is crocheted into the back of the topper. This allows you to wrap the towel around the elastic so it stays securely on your oven handle or towel bar.
The best part is that the elastic is completely hidden behind the flower. From the front, all you see is the fully bloomed poinsettia.

Yarn Choices for the Best Result
I used cotton dishcloth yarn for my topper. If you prefer, acrylic yarn also works beautifully with this design.
Details You’ll Love About This Design
This poinsettia towel topper includes a small but charming detail in the center. The 4-chain nub stitch creates a cluster that resembles the cyathia, the true center of a poinsettia bloom. I always called them stamens, but cyathia is the proper term. This stitch adds dimension and makes the flower look more realistic.
Finished Size
The finished topper measures approximately:
-
5.5 inches tall
-
5 inches wide
It’s the ideal size to hang on an oven door, towel bar, or cabinet knob.

This towel topper is constructed in the same way as my Sunflower Towel Topper. The elastic band is worked into the back and completely concealed.
Make It a Gift Set
This topper makes a wonderful handmade gift. You can create a complete three piece set by pairing:

-
A coordinating holiday towel
It’s the perfect present for a teacher, coworker, neighbor, or anyone who is hard to shop for. It also makes a thoughtful office exchange gift.
