Free Watermelon Scrubby Crochet Pattern

If you’re looking for a free Watermelon Scrubby crochet pattern, you’ve come to the right place! This adorable 3D watermelon slice is crocheted with a Scrubby Sparkle yarn, making it both decorative and practical. The curved shape fits comfortably in your hand while scrubbing dishes, and the attached hanging loop makes it easy to dry between uses. The free crochet pattern is below or you can get the ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY

Why I Love Scrubby Sparkle Yarn

If you’ve never used Scrubby Sparkle Yarn before, you may find it isn’t as hard to use as some folks think.! It has great texture to help remove food from dishes without scratching your cookware.

Here are a few reasons it’s one of my favorite yarns for kitchen projects:

  • Gentle on pots, pans, and bakeware
  • Durable for everyday use
  • Machine washable and dryer safe
  • Dries quickly between uses
  • Holds its shape after washing
  • Adds just a bit of sparkle to your sink area

The half slice Watermelon is laying on a table with two kitchen towels a crochet hook and a ball of red heart scrubby yarn.

Add the Optional Watermelon Seeds

One of my favorite finishing touches is adding a few embroidered black seeds to the watermelon portion.

They’re completely optional, but they really make the scrubby come to life and give it that classic watermelon look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Red Heart Scrubby Sparkle made from polyester?

Yes! It’s made from 100% polyester, giving it the textured fibers that make it excellent for scrubbing.

Will it scratch my cookware?

No. It’s designed to clean effectively without scratching most cookware and bakeware.

Can I machine wash my crochet scrubby?

Absolutely! Toss it into the washing machine and dryer whenever it needs freshening up. It also holds up well in the top rack of many dishwashers.

Does the yarn stretch out after washing?

No. One of the nice qualities of this yarn is that it keeps its shape wash after wash.

Can I use this yarn for clothing?

I don’t recommend it for garments because of its scrubby texture. It’s much happier living in your kitchen than in your wardrobe!

Do not end off but pull and make the last loop bigger, or add a marker in the last loop, so that the stitches don’t start pulling out.

End off and weave in all yarn tails.

Embroider the watermelon seeds using a little bit of black scrubby yarn if you choose.

Fold the watermelon in half with the last loop that you made right at the fold.

Make a strong crease remembering that the fold begins at the last loop.

With the watermelon folded in half, insert your hook back in the loop, and begin to crochet through all stitches, closing the watermelon. When you get to the fold at the opposite side, chain 15 (Optional hanging loop) and slp st back into the last st made. End off and weave in all ends. I hope you enjoyed using this crochet pattern.
