Anywhere that blue and white is the theme. The stiff fabric liner is easy to add. There is video support and the free crochet pattern is down below. You can purchase an ad free crochet pattern at Etsy or Ravelry.
I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.
It really isn’t that hard to add that stiff liner to your square crochet basket. Here are the materials you will need.
- Poster weight cardboard.
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks.
- Scissors for cutting cardboard.
- Scissors for cutting fabric.
- Measuring tape & Yard Stick.
- Fabric Pen or Pencil…it doesn’t have to be a fabric pen or pencil.
- Approximately 1/2 yd of fabric of your choice. (I used cotton duck fabric by Waverly)
The video tutorial on how to add the liner to the square Nautical basket is below.
I will walk you through the step by step process of cutting the cardboard and fabric. Then I will show you how easy it is to cover the cardboard and assemble theme into a square liner. The last step is place it inside your squae crocheted basket.
A beautiful square napkin basket is such a help at family gatherings.
It’s the perfect compliment to the Nautical Placemats… Table Runner… Mug Rug… & Round Basket, as they all use the same stitches. A change of color and the square napkin basket can easily be made to match a holiday like Christmas or Thanksgiving.

I really like this napkin basket! I like all you crochet items. So, I’m assuming it’s approximately 4×4? It looks rather large, but sounds small. Regardless I like it and will use it in some fashion.
