Have you ever found a yarn that you really love, and it’s the one that you think of when you want to start a new project? For me, it’s I Love This Yarn by Hobby Lobby. I want to share with you my Review of “I Love This Yarn” by Hobby Lobby.
Honestly, for an acrylic yarn, it’s unbelievably soft and easy to work with. It has such a nice feel in your hands—smooth without a squeaky texture. It has a center pull and very few knots were found while using many skeins. The yarn doesn’t split easy either. To me it is similar to Lion Brand’s Mandala Ombre Yarn.
What really has me hooked on this Hobby Lobby yarn are the COLORS.
The shade range is absolutely gorgeous—beautiful solids, from darks to pretty pastels, and stunning variegated options. The colors themselves are a great influence on the entire design and where to place the colors in my blanket projects.
If you are shopping online, the variegated yarn is in a separate category. There is a page for solid colors and a page for variegated colors, and a page for tweed colors.

I used this yarn to design Deegan’s baby blanket, I found the variegated Print- “Birchwood Cottage” yarn.
After I found this beautiful variegated yarn, I held it up to nearly every yarn on the shelf—walking up and down the aisle—matching and mixing until I found just the right combinations to create a soft, coordinated look.
Deegan’s mom was absolutely thrilled with how the colors came together.
And honestly, so was I. The Spiked Sedge Stitch worked perfectly for this baby blanket design, and adding the colors in rows felt so natural. Some shades were just accents—one or two rows slipped in between bolder colors—to help everything stand out and give the blanket a unique, custom feel.

That experience was such a success that I used the same approach when planning my next big project: the Over Brook Afghan.
And can I tell you? I am completely in love with how it’s turning out using this soft acrylic yarn.

For this blanket, I knew I wanted cream to be the focal point. It’s a sampler-style afghan that uses many of the same stitches from my original Over Brook Poncho design.
The poncho was actually my first project combining these stitches, and since then, I’ve found so many ways to play with them in different patterns. Just like in the poncho, I’ve used transition rounds in this afghan to add pops of color for extra interest and movement. Every time I look at it, it makes me smile.
Here are the yarn colors I chose for the Over Brook Afghan.
I may not use all of these colors, but I love how you can see each of these colors in the variegated yarn I chose. The color way for the variegated yarn is “Sand Dunes”.
You know, I may change my mind tomorrow on what my favorite yarn is—because there are so many wonderful yarns to love—but for today, it’s definitely Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn.

I agree with you. I also love this yarn (I Love This Yarn) by Hobby Lobby. The choices seem endless. We have a Hobby Lobby Store near us, about 30 miles away. When we go, I generally try to go on the week that they have 30percent off yarn. (One week it’s yarn, the next week it’s fabric.) It’s a savings. I must really stop myself from buying to much yarn. I started using their cotton yarn. It was amazing, easy to work with and soft. Projects seem to just go so much faster with this yarn. I have since tried some of their other yarns. Same results. I used to by yarn at Michael’s, JoAnn Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. Now the only place I can purchase yarn in person is Hobby Lobby, and sometimes WalMart. I personally like to see the yarn in person.
They do have great choices don’t they. The Hobby Lobby closest to me has downsized the yarn selection, which makes me so sad. Just like you, I need to squish and feel the yarn in person. I am not sure about all of this buying yarn and fabric online. So let me ask, how do you keep up with the sale weeks? Do you just always know? I love to sew as well, so each week will hold magic for me, but there are times I only want to buy yarn. Do you look online? I have to drive an hour to get to Hobby Lobby, so knowing before I go would be a great help.
I have always loved Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn. It is my go to for a reasonably priced, soft but durable, easy to care for acrylic yarn. The color options are endless and the various colors seem to be consistent in weight and thickness too. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this yarn. I love their cotton and their chunky I Love This Yarn as well. I have never been disappointed with a project I have made with this yarn.
