How to Crochet A 3D Strawberry Dishcloth: Free Pattern

I can show you how to crochet a 3D Strawberry Dishcloth. It is two sided, has a cute strawberry cap of leaves on top, and the hanging loop represents the Strawberry stem. The Free Crochet Pattern is included in the blog post. You will find it below. You can purchase the ad free pdf, that has a photo tutorial at RAVELRY or ETSY.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

The 3D Crochet Strawberry Dishcloth is being held by the creator, showing the 3D qualitiies.

What kind of yarn should you use to crochet the 3D Strawberry Dishcloth?

I highly recommend Cotton Dishcloth Yarn. Below you will find the reasons why and an explanation of the qualities that make it a good choice.

FAQs: On Why You Should Use Cotton Yarn For A 3D Strawberry Dishcloth?

  1. Why is cotton yarn the best choice for this dishcloth?
Cotton yarn is highly absorbent, which makes it ideal. It can soak up water efficiently, making cleaning easier and more effective compared to synthetic fibers.
  2.  Will dishcloth cotton yarn hold up well after multiple uses?
Yes! Cotton yarn is durable and stands up to repeated use, washing, and scrubbing. Unlike other fibers that may wear out or degrade quickly, cotton remains sturdy even after frequent laundering.
  3.  How To Wash The 3D Strawberry Dishcloth.
Wash them as you would any other dishcloth, but to help this one keep it’s shape and color, throw in the washing machine using a gentle cycle, using cold water and lay flat to dry, or reshape and hang to dry. The dishcloth may shrink when using hot water and using a dryer on high heat.
  4.  Is cotton yarn safe to use in the kitchen?
Absolutely. Cotton yarn is a natural fiber, so it’s safe to use for dishcloths, especially when dealing with hot surfaces or cleaning tasks. Unlike synthetic materials, it doesn’t melt or release harmful chemicals when exposed to heat.
  5.  Is cotton yarn easy to work with when crocheting dishcloths?
Cotton yarn has excellent stitch definition, but it can be wearing on your hands as the yarn is stiff. I like to do hand stretches to warm up my joints. After I have crocheted a for a few minutes, I am able to ease into a smooth rhythm.
  6.  Will the 3D Strawberry dishcloth dry quickly after use?
It will take a bit of attention to achieve a good dry after using this 3D dishcloth or any other 3D dishcloth. Are you on my email list? Join here to stay on top of all the new crochet patterns and tutorials.
  • I recommend rinsing them well after use.
  • Wringing them as dry as possible.
  • Open up the strawberry by pulling the sides away from each other.
  • Then hanging it in a place that has good air circulation.
  • These steps will enable drying.
  • You will find the Free Crochet Pattern for the 3D Strawberry Dishcloth below.

Creating 3D dishcloths and scrubbies has been a passion of mine in recent years.

Your family will be excited to help in the kitchen with this fun and whimsical dishcloth. Hand a few to your kids at bath time, and they’ll happily scrub and play. By the time they step out of the tub, they’ll be even cleaner and sweeter than when they went in!

Here is a list of the fruit dishcloths and Scrubbies.

Here is what other’s have said about my previous 3D dishcloth crochet patterns.

G. Bowman gave it 5 stars on Etsy and she said…
“Turned out great for a daughter who has a lemon decor in her kitchen! I made a coordinating regular dishcloth to go with it. It would make a good hot pad too probably.”

G. Hoffman gave it 5 stars and shared a photo with me on etsy. She said…
“Quick and easy patterns. I enjoyed making them.”

Yarn:

Worsted weight  (4) yarn is the best for dishcloths. I used Hobby Lobby’s “I Love This Cotton” in Red for the fruit portion and Peaches and Cream in Forest Green.

I think this would be cute using pink yarn for the strawberry and lime green yarn for the leaf cap. If you create on in these colors, please send me a photo. I would love to see it.

Finishing the Strawberry and making the hanging loop.
Photo collage of the steps to close the hole and to crochet the hanging loop.

  • Using a yarn needle thread the long, yarn tail through the eye, and sew the opening that is at the top of the strawberry closed.
  • Sew it back and forth.
  • I like to bunch it together at the top while I am sewing it closed.
  • Work the yarn tail back to the middle of the Strawberry cap, after you have sewn it closed.
  • Insert your hook into a loop in the center of the strawberry cap.
  • Now draw up a loop.
  • Use the loop & chain 2o. Come back to the base of the chain 2o and join with a slp st.
  • End off and weave in all ends.
