Lemon Farmhouse Basket Crochet Pattern

This Lemon Farmhouse Basket is so quick to crochet. Add a stiff cardboard liner and the sides will stay tall and strait. You can use it to hold dinner rolls, and it coordinates perfectly with the other Lemon Farmhouse items. This basket uses unique stitches that give it that little pop.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

A Lemon Farmhouse Basket for you to crochet for your table. Then follow the video and I will show you how to add the stiff, ruffled fabric liner.

The Lemon Farmhouse Basket goes perfectly with the other items in the Lemon Farmhouse Kitchen and Table Decor Crochet patterns.

I created a Lemon Towel Topper It was a first for me. I really enjoyed designing it, and I am sure there will be more variations to come. The Lovely Lemons are the perfect embellishment to the towel topper, and I think they would look so cute as a garland. Of course there are placemats, mug rugs and coasters.

If you would like to know how to add a stiff liner with a cute ruffle to the top of the Lemon Farmhouse Basket, this video will show you how. Video tutorial on how to add the stiff fabric liner to the lemon farmhouse basket

Gauge:

Round Basket using K hook: 4″ x 4″ = 10 st’s across x 11 rows high

Swatch

holding two strands of yarn together, ch 20

Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1 & turn

Row 2: sc in each st across, ch 1 & turn

Row 3 – 15: repeat Row 2

Hooks Needed For All Projects

K-10.5/6.50 mm

L-11/8.00 mm

Stitch Guide:

MC = Main Color = White

CC1 = Contrasting Color = Yellow

CC2 = Contrasting Color = Navy

ch = Chain

sc = Single Crochet

bp sc = Back Post Single Crochet

h bp sc = High Back Post Single Crochet – wrap the hook high around the post, above the third loop to execute a back post sc

dc = Double Crochet

join w/ = join with

slp st = Slip Stitch

skp = Skip

SP = Space

nxt = Next

prev. = previous

st./st’s = stitch or stitches

beg. = beginning

* * = Complete sequence between the stars, the number of times stated;

x = Times; example Repeat 2 x or 2 times; 3 x or 3 times and so on;

in = example “in nxt st” means you will be inserting the hook under the top two loops of the next stitch to complete stitch or sequence of stitches stated

yo = Yarn Over

Special Stitch Guide:

crab stitch = reverse single crochet, executing a sc backwards.

mb = Mini Bean Stitch = insert hook into the stitch indicated, draw up a loop, yo, insert hook into the same st, draw up a loop, yo, draw thru all 4 loops on hook, ch 1 to close the stitch.

The mb stitch is a unique cluster stitch. When the pattern is worked in rows each row of stitches has a right and left tilt.  It is easy to use the ch 1 space to execute the cluster, but it will not give you the right, left tilt. The Pic below is showing where to insert your hook, for the next row of clusters. Pic 1: Notice the arrows are pointing to the “V” where you insert your hook to execute the cluster stitch. You are executing the cluster directly into the cluster st. Pic. 2 shows the cluster stitch that was made, and it will tilt, when you execute the next Cluster stitch.

Using “L” hook & holding 2 strand’s of MC, ch 3 & join in a ring

Round 1:

ch1, 11 hdc in ring; join w/slp st to beg. hdc (11 st)

Round 2:

ch1, 2 hdc in joining st and in each st around; join w/slp to beg. hdc. (22 hdc)

Round 3:

ch 1, hdc in joining st, 2 hdc in nxt *hdc in nxt st, 2 hdc in nxt* repeat around; join w/slp to beg. hdc. (33 hdc)

Round 4:

ch 1, hdc in joining st, hdc in nxt st, 2 hdc in nxt *hdc in nxt st (2x), 2 hdc in nxt* repeat around; join w/slp to beg. hdc. (44 hdc)

Round 5:

ch 1, hdc in joining st, hdc in nxt st (2x), 2 hdc in nxt *hdc in nxt st (3x), 2 hdc in nxt* repeat around; join w/slp to beg. hdc. (55 hdc)

Round 6:

ch 1, hbp sc in joining st and in each st around; join w/slp to beg. hdc. (55 hdc)

Measurement check : 8″ diameter

Round 7 & 8: Use “K” hook throughout the rest of the pattern.

ch 1, sc in joining st and in each st around; join w/slp to beg. sc. At the end of Row 8, drop MC & pull up CC2 at the slp st,  (55 st’s)

Round 9:

Follow this Video on how to execute the Surface Slip Stitch

slp st in each st around, in a loose fashion, execute a join by slip stitching under the first slp st made, end off . Yarn tails should be at the front, to finish this round thread the yarn tail into a yarn needle, and put the needle in between the “V” of the two loops, and draw the yarn to the inside of the basket. This sequence of stitches should not be tight as it will pull the basket out of shape. (55 st’s)

Round 10:

Pull up MC, by pass Row 9 & execute this next row into Row 8. You can see the top two loops of Row 8 behind the slp st’s of Row 9. Insert your hook under the top two loops. sc in 1st st, and in each st around; join w/slp st to beg sc. (55 st’s)

Follow this video on how to execute the Mini Bean Stitch

mb in 1st st; *skp st, mb in nxt st;* repeat around; join w/slp st to 2nd ch of beg. ch 2 & turn. (28 mb st’s)

Round 15 & 16: (Please refer to photo tutorial at “Special Stitches”)

    Love the basket and how to make liner. I am wondering if I could use tacky glue instead of glue gun?

      Thank you so much! I have never worked with tacky glue before. Does it set up really quick like Hot Glue does?

    This is really cute. I’m thinking of my sister who lives in Florida, surrounded by orange orchards. Another sister had a lemon tree in her yard – those lemons were sweet! Yet another sister had a huge avocado tree (hope that inspires you to create an avocado dishcloth Krissy 🙂

      I’m so sorry. Hey…whenever I go live on Youtube and facebook, I have been gifting the entire pattern bundle to one of the watchers at the end of the video. They have to attend and they have to comment. Maybe you could get in on that? The Bundle is a really good deal right now. The price will go up after the Home Decor Event is over.
