Let me show you how to crochet the peekaboo ridge stitch in the round and in the flat. It is easy and the results are beautiful. I created and named this stitch when designing a crochet chemo cap. It adds that little bit of sweet texture and has little openings for a bit of airflow.
This Peekaboo Ridge stitch works well when crocheting in the round, or crocheting in the flat
It is a combination of 2 stitches, and 4 rounds or rows to complete. The Spike single crochet stitch creates texture and opens up the chain one space, two rows below. Opening that chain 1 space is what helps create that air flow.
I will be scattering in screenshots of the YouTube video tutorial for the Peekaboo Ridge Crochet Stitch within this tutorial, that will help you visualize how to crochet this unique stitch.
The Youtube tutorial is easy to follow, and at certain portions you may need to turn off the Closed Captioning feature to see the stitch placement.
Below is the Video tutorial on how to crochet the Peekaboo Ridge Crochet Stitch.

Here is how to crochet the Peekaboo Ridge Stitch in the round.
The following rounds is based on the assumption that you have crocheted 70 SC stitches in the round. You can refer to the Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap, using the child XSMALL to adult small. HERE IS THE LINK.

Let’s take a look at how to crochet the Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap.
This chemo cap is great for a lady or man.
The texture is stylish and adds fashionable to wear. There is a free version or you can purchase the ad free pdf that includes 3 sizes at RAVELRY and ETSY.
I was thinking of men when I designed this chemo cap as my local Cancer Center said they need a few for men.
I asked a few of my friends if they thought the men in their life would wear this Peekaboo Ridge Chemo Cap, if it were in dark colors. They were quick to tell me yes!
Now let’s take a look at how to crochet the Peekeboo Ridge Stitch in the flat.
I do not have a video tutorial on how to crochet this stitch in the flat, but below is the written tutorial. It is fairly easy and would be wonderful to crochet a Baby Blanket or a scarf, as the texture is eye catching and unique.

Chain 72, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch acrosss, ch1 & turn
(71 sc)
Round 2:

I believe this stitch would be beautiful in any solid colored yarn.
I think the stitch definition would still shine when using a yarn that has long color runs like Lion Brand Mandala Ombre Yarn, or Caron Cotton Ripple Cakes.
Use the crochet hook that is appropriate for the yarn you are using. When I crocheted the chemo caps, I used a G–6/4.0mm
I would not recommend a Velvet Yarn or yarn that has a lot of loft to it, as it would be hard to find the ch1 space to put those textured spike stitches.
If you enjoyed this tutorial, then pin this photo below to your favorite crochet boards. Then you are ready when it’s time to crochet a baby blanket or your next scarf.
