Krissys Over The Mountain Crochet

And Crafts

Nautical Placemat | Free Crochet Pattern

Let me show you how to use this placemat crochet pattern to create table decor, that you can use in your nautical or farmhouse home. Change the colors to gray and cream, or cranberry and white and it will easily fit into a farmhouse theme of decorating. Embellishing the placemats with fabric is so much fun and it serves a practical purpose, as you can add silverware or a napkin into those adorable fabric embellishments.

I sometimes use affiliate links in my posts. This won’t cost you anything, but will help offset the cost of yarn and other supplies needed, so that I can continue bringing you crochet patterns and craft ideas. Thank you so much for your support.

Free crochet pattern for the Seaside Reflections Placemat.

You will find the free crochet pattern at the bottom of this post, but first let’s talk about the details. The placemat can be crocheted using cotton or acrylic yarn. Using fabric from Waverly that I purchased at Walmart is what I used to make the triangle silverware holders. There are 4 other crochet patterns that coordinate with this placemat. A Table Runner, Mug Rug, Round Basket and a Napkin Basket. The whole collection is lovely.

Thank you Lynne…I am really thinking Christmas…and then clipping off the Christmas fabric and tacking on Valentines…then clipping that off and putting on the Fourth of July. Oh…and if you use a cranberry color it could translate into Thanksgiving as well…just change the fabric. Now I’m wishing I had made my set Cranberry. LOL

These placemats are so cute! I love the triangles for tableware or napkins! One thing though, when you are sewing the edges of the triangles do utopia sew a standard 1/4” seam? Can’t wait to make these in cotton yarn. What cotton yarn do you recommend?

Thank you…I use a 3/8″ seam, as the weave is coarser than most cotton fabrics. This is a lightweight decorator weight fabric. I am considering napkins…and I even thought the fabric would make a nice skirt, with flat felled seams on the sides, and maybe one down the front….I am rambling aren’t I? But I refuse to write what I just typed. LOL It was exactly what was running around in my head.

I’ve commented on all five crocheted items. One I think I commented twice. Did they not save?

Hey there, I went into my settings and changed things around. I didn’t realize I had things set up to be approved before it would show up. I am hoping with these new changes that your comments will show up immediately.

Thank you…and I understand…I have placemats that I eat on, and then there are placemats that I pull off to the side and then clean up…and then put it back in place to look pretty. Although…I wouldn’t hesitate to wash this.

A photo collage of a crocheted towel topper, and Santa is going down the chimney the wrong way. He is upside down in the chimney. The photo on the left is showing the towel topper hanging on an oven handle and the towel is white. There are two photos on the right, showing the same towel topper being used as a gift card holder. The chimney is red, with a green wreath and red bow. The top of the chimney is tan with white furry yarn that looks like snow. There is also a bit of white furry yarn at the bottom of the chimney to look like snow. Then Santas legs are sticking up, out of the top of the chimney, since he went in upside down.
