Fast To Crochet Chemo Cap | Free Pattern

This fast to crochet chemo cap is a free pattern here on this blog. It is so quick to crochet because you hold two strands of Lion Brand Coboo yarn. The texture is lovely and the ribbing at the brim is so feminine. You can purchase an ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY.

This post may include affiliate links that won’t cost you anything, but I may receive a small commission that will allow me to purchase more yarn and crafting supplies.

The double down crochet chemo cap that has a feminine cross stitch brim

I highly recommend using a tapered crochet hook like Boye.

My favorite crochet hook is Susan Bates, but the inline hook catches the yarn and creates a lot of snags. Here is an good article by Thoresby Cottage that explains how to pick the proper crochet hook.

Holding 2 strands of Lion Brand Coboo yarn and a “J/10-6.00 mm” crochet hook is what makes this such a fast chemo cap to crochet.

Lion Brand Coboo yarn is the perfect yarn for chemo caps. However it splits very easy. Especially when holding two strands of yarn. It takes a little bit more effort to use this yarn, but it is worth it when you can provide a comfortable chemo cap for those in need.

This chemo cap has a unique, feminine ribbing at the brim.

Placing a front post half double crochet every third stitch, then execute a cross stitch in the other two stitches, adds a feminine touch to this Chemo Cap. Just  little bit of fun and sass at the brim. I also used this ribbing on the Single Cable Chemo Cap.

The Double Down Chemo cap with a J crochet hook and a Cancer ribbon on the side.

After my breast cancer diagnosis in 2021 it became my mission to design beautiful and useful chemo caps.

I had been designing chemo caps before my Cancer diagnosis. After my diagnosis my knowledge has increased. I have a better idea on what kind of yarn to use for chemo patients. Chemo patients can have very sensitive skin, because the hair follicles are dying. Some patients may have sores on their scalps. Great attention to the yarn and it’s qualities is a must. My choice of yarn to use for chemo patients that are struggling is Lion Brand Coboo or Lion Brand Truboo.

Crochet Pattern for the Easy To Crochet Double Down Chemo Cap.

Yarn:

Lion Brand Coboo (3)

51% cotton; 49% rayon

232 yds/232 meters per cake, it will use one entire cake. You will need to half that cake so that you are holding two strands. The easiest thing to do is buy two cakes

A little less than half of the cake was used. Washing recommendation by others who have used this yarn; wash on gentle then lay flat to dry. This will help the yarn keep its beauty.
