Rubber Ducky Applique Free Crochet Pattern

This Rubber Ducky Applique Crochet Pattern is so fun to use to decorate your little ones Nautical Clothing. I love using the Rubber Ducky Applique to put on the Lil Sailor Layette set. You will find the free crochet pattern below.
LIttle Rubber Ducky Appliques in many different colors.

You can sew or glue the Rubber Ducky Applique to the item you are wanting to add it to.

The sewing is minimal and is easily completed when you weave in the loose yarn tails. All you need is a yarn needle. I like the plastic yarn needles but a  metal yarn needle is my favorite. It is easier to hide your stitches when using a metal yarn needle.

Twisting up a miniature bow is very easy.

If you have a collection of 1/2″ to 1/4″ wide ribbon, you will be able to make your Rubber Ducky applique unique to you and your own style. You can always use bakers string or twine to make a bow for the neck of the Rubber Ducky.

I have a video tutorial on how to twist up a tiny little Bow.

The ribbon in the video demonstration is wider, but the concept is the same. You may also want to read this photo tutorial to help you along. You can purchase the ad free pdf of the Rubber Ducky Applique on RAVELRY or ETSY.

All of the rubber ducky appliques with a tiny bow made out of ribbon at the neck.

You can change the size of your rubber ducky by using a different sized crochet hook.

I crocheted the small Rubber Ducky is made using an F/5/3.75mm small crochet hook. They are the rubber ducks featured in the photos.

  • Small Rubber Ducky – F/5/3.75mm
  • Medium Rubber Duck – H/8/5.00mm
  • Large Rubber Duck – J/10/6.00

I crocheted the Little Sailor Layette Set in Pale Blue with White trim.

I then added a yellow rubber ducky to the brim of the Sailor Hat, the bum of the Nautical Diaper Cover, and to the corner of the Sailor bib.

You may like this White Sailor Layette Set trimmed in pink.

I tried to add a skirt to the diaper cover, but it really didn’t look right in the front. Only from the back does the diaper cover look good. Hence there aren’t any instructions for that little skirt. I also rebranded my business a few years later so you will see two watermarks. My business is now Krissy’s Over The Mountain Crochet.

You can use this Little Rubber Ducky applique in many different ways. You could sew two of them together, back to back and use it as a key chain. You can also use the bigger Rubber Duckies to make a bunting for Baby’s Nursery.

Below is the Free Crochet pattern for the Little Rubber Ducky Applique.

  16. Loop yarn over hook, and pull through the stitch, CH 1; SLP ST back into the same stitch

  17. End off, thread yarn tail to the back and tie yarn ends into a knot, and tuck the yarn tails lightly under a few stitches.
