Teeny Tiny Miniature Pumpkin | Free Crochet Pattern

Looking for the cutest fall crochet project ever? You’ve found it! These teeny tiny crochet pumpkins are just 1 inch wide and ½ inch tall.

They’re the perfect stash-buster project. You can make a dozen in an evening, and they’re perfect for earrings, purse charms, key rings, or fall table décor.

Made with Mandala Sparkle (3) yarn, these little pumpkins are filled with cozy charm and shimmer. They’re quick, fun, and oh-so-satisfying to create. Let’s get started!

Model is holding the teeny tiny pumpkin on the tips of her beautifully painted green, fingernails.

Designer Notes

  1. This crochet pattern is written in U.S. terms.

  2. It is worked in the round, with no joins between rounds.

  3. Place a stitch marker at the beginning of each round, starting at Round 2.

  4. You can use a standard decrease or an invisible decrease method. (The video demonstrates the invisible decrease or you can learn from THIS VIDEO.)

  5. I used Mandala Yarn and cut the yarn at the beginning of each color, rolling each color section into its own mini ball for better color control.
Model is wearing a a pair of earrings that were made using the miniature pumpkins.

    Yarn, Hook, and Supplies

Yarn Used: Mandala Sparkle (3), Colorway Crux
Hook: Size D-3 (3.25 mm) or E-4 (3.5 mm) — either works beautifully for this miniature design.

Round 1

ch3 and join in a ring,

ch1 and place 7 sc in the ring; do not join (7 sc)

Round 2

2sc in 1st st of round 1 (Place Marker In First Stitch) 2sc in each st around, until you reach the marker, do not join (14 sc)

Round 3 & 4

sc in 1st st of Round 2; place marker in stitch; sc in each st around (14 sc)

Round 5

decrease 7x; pull up a large loop and cut the yarn leaving a long tail. You will use this tail to make the dents in the pumpkin.

Stuffing and Closing the Pumpkin

Start stuffing the pumpkin

After the pumpkin is stuffed, begin closing the hole.

  1. Skp 1 st and slp st in the next.

  2. Slp st directly across the opening, giving it a snug pull

  3. Slp st one more time across the opening if needed.

  4. End Off. You will have a long tail

Making The Dents On Pumpkins

All photos are included in the PDF that can be purchased at RAVELRY or ETSY.

Thread your tail into the eye of a yarn needle.

Push the needle through the center to the bottom of the pumpkin,

Pull the yarn through the center of the pumpkin, making a dent.

While keeping tension on the yarn that just came through the bottom of the pumpkin, wrap it around the pumpkin, back to the top.

Insert the needle through the center of the pumpkin, just as before. Go completely through and out the center bottom of the pumpkin, pulling on the yarn to make a dent.

Continue wrapping the yarn and passing through the middle of your pumpkin, keeping the yarn tail taut, to make as many dents as you would like on your miniature pumpkin.

I use the clock method of shaping, 12 to 6, 3 to 9 and so on.

I generally use 6 to 8 dents. It’s up to you.

Pumpkin Leaf

Using a contrasting color to make a leaf (I use green, but brown or mustard will be fine)
ch3, join with a slip st, in 1st chain made; end off. Shape the leaf by pulling on both yarn tails.
