How To Crochet A Girls Jumper Dress | Free Pattern

I want to show you how to crochet a girls jumper dress using a Nautical theme. This free pattern can be used to crochet this jumper in preemie, newborn or 3 month sizes. One of my testers crocheted it in Camo yarn and added pink crochet heart pockets on the front. It is just adorable.

little girls crochet jumper with a matching sailor hat.

Your little one will look so cute in this crochet Jumper during any patriotic event.

You can change the colors to fit with any military theme. Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force or Coast Guard when a soldier is coming home. This is a great outfit to crochet for all of those Photo Opportunities.

If you don’t have military or anchor buttons add a boutique bow.

Place a bow right at the top of the bib and one on the brim of the Sailor hat. How cute is that. I have a blog post right here that shows you how to make that boutique bow.

The free crochet pattern for the girls jumper dress is down below.

You will also find the free crochet pattern for the Rubber Ducky Applique, the Sailor Hat, Diaper cover and Baby Bib. The Mama’s Lil’ Firecracker Collection of crochet patterns are free on this blog as well. The collection includes the Bib Overalls, Shortalls, Sailor Hat and the Shorts.

Of course if you would like to purchase the ad free pdf for the Rubber Ducky and Sailor Set Bundle, it is available at ETSY. The Momma’s Lil Firecracker Collection of crochet patterns is an ebook at RAVELRY & ETSY.

The arrow is pointing to the space in (PIC. 1) Pull up a loop (PIC. 2) execute a SC (PIC 3)  The arrow in Pic 3 shows you where the next stitch will be.

Row 2: CH 1; SC in 1st St and in each ST across; join w/ SLP ST in beg. CH 1; CH 1, Turn (11st, 13st, 15st)

Row 3 -10, 12, 14;  SC in 1st St and in each ST across; join w/ SLP ST in beg. CH 1; CH 1, Turn; End off at the end of row 10, 12, 14; (11st, 13st, 15st)

Edging:
1. Holding the jumper so that you are looking inside the bibs, and wrong side is facing you, attach yarn in bottom right corner of bib, SC up the side with one stitch in the side of each row as long as the bib does not ripple. If it starts to ripple, skip a row, 3 SC at the corner, SC across the top with a SC in each st. 3 SC at the corner, and proceed to SC down the opposite side;

2. drop MC and pull up CC on last pull through of the last stitch made, CH 1 and Turn, and
Repeat Step 1. of edging around the bib, when finished, drop CC and pull up MC at the last st of the bib, do not end off;
3. You are now at the waistband and will proceed to SC around the entire edge of the waistband, (Use the technique that was used when attaching the bib, where you dipped between the HDC stitches.)

4. Continue to SC around the bib, this will make the last bit of edging using the MC. End Off when you reach the first stitch of your last color change.
(4” x 4.5 “ wide)

Straps: Make 2
Row 1: CH 5,  HDC in 2nd CH from hook and in each CH across; CH 2, Turn (4 HDC)
Row 2: HDC in 1st st, and in each st across;  CH 2, Turn (4 HDC)
Row 4 -34, 36, 40: Repeat Row 3 End off at the end of Row 34, 36, 40

For an adjustable fit, sew the bib straps to the upper corner of the bib, cross them to the back. Sew a button to the inside of the waistband on each side at the back of the waist. I use scotch tape to hold the buttons in place, while I am sewing on the buttons. The tape is easily removed when sewing is finished.

Fasten the straps in place by putting the button through the weave on the straps. This makes it’s very adjustable.

Optional Waist Tie CH 82, 85, 90 feed through the ribbing, being careful to slip through the stitching and not through the yarn. You can also use ribbon in this area.
Measurements = 13.5”, 15”, 15.5” waist; Top of bib to bottom of skirt 7.5”, 9.5”, 11”

Embellish your jumper with buttons or bows! Such a cute little thing for baby to wear!
