Cozy Ear Flap Hat Free Crochet Pattern

This cozy ear flap hat is fun to crochet using this free crochet pattern. The patterns includes all sizes from Newborn to adult EX Large. I designed this hat years ago. I have made so many of these hats and they all were great sellers at craft shows. You can use any novelty yarn for the insert and the earflaps. It really is a great design to help you use up your yarn stash. You can purchase the ad free pdf at RAVELRY or ETSY.

little girl is wearing the cozy ear flap hat. It is made using pipsqueak yarn as a contrast.
This ear flap helmet hat will work for the girls and guys!

There are many different novelty yarns that you can use the recreate this hat. Boucle yarns, Velvet yarns, Fur yarns or any novelty yarn is perfect to add as the insert and the earflaps.

The specific yarn that was used for this earflap hat was Bernat Pipsqueak. Are you wondering if you have a similar yarn in your stash? Take a look here at yarnsub.com. I’ve already put the search in for you. Go take a look.

If you love this fuzzy almost furry yarn, you may also love this chemo cap I designed, using Bernat Pipsqueak yarn. I know it’s not a conventional chemo cap, but some chemo patients need and want a warm and pretty hat for street wear.

This fuzzy, boucle type of yarn can be a little tricky to work with, but the more you work with it, the easier it becomes. If you take your time and go at it in a slow manner, you will find it a rhythm. Your fingers will start finding the stitches and exactly where to insert your crochet hook.

Oh my goodness, Krissy- this is so cute! I want to make one for my 2 yo granddaughter so bad- but she lives in American Samoa where it is hot all year around! I may need to add it to my list of things to make for kids at the Cancer hospital here in Dhaka Bangladesh.
