How To Crochet A Simple Beanie That Men Love

Men and children love this simple beanie. My son is a fan of this beanie. He has been wearing a gray one and he asked me to make new ones for him. I was happy to oblige. I made one for my little cracker jack of a grandson too! It is a very beginner friendly crochet pattern. I only recommend Caron Simply Soft, or the generic to Caron Simply soft, to get the results that men want. 5 sizes included in the pattern below.

Men love this simple beanie. It is easy to crochet and they love wearing this type of hat.

You will find the crochet pattern below for 5 sizes.

Men love this beanie and you will get the best results with Caron Simply Soft yarn, or a store brand knock off.
This Camo beanie uses Michaels brand Soft and Shiny yarn. Different sizes will create a different but unique camo pattern. The camo pattern above is what showed up when I made the Children’s size simple beanie.

The leather tags that are on the brim of this simple beanie are easy to make.

  1. I use scrap leather and cut out a 1″ x 2.5″ piece and round out the corners.
  2. Use an awl or the tip of very sharp scissors, to punch 2 holes, 1/4″ from the end on either side.
  3. Fold the leather patch in half and sew in place.
  4. Use crochet thread or sewing thread to sew in place.
  5. You can also use fabric to make a tag for the brim. Watch the video below starting at the 12.0 mark to find out how to make a fabric patch.

Hi all! I’m about to start the main part of the mens simple beanie. I’m kind of a “tight hooker” 🤭 and so went up a hook size to a H. What I want to know is ….does the top of the hat sort of “ruffle” as you’re increasing then smooth out as you work the rows down? It should, right?

It can have a small ruffle, but…if the ruffle is deep, you may want to have one less stitch in round 1. You would need to increase more rounds to get the size you want, before executing the main part, and your stitch counts will change. But that isn’t a big deal really.

Tha camo design was from the yarn. She didn’t use multiple colors, it was just a skein of yarn that was already camo colors.

You are correct. Specifically for the Toddler sized hat. The yarn just pooled that way. It was a bonus!
